Cluckromancy

Sorcerous Origin
Comments from the Thumb: Character builds that took advantage of RAW oversights to create strange and often silly characters were an incredibly common sight in the 3.5 community. Who could forget the amazing brokenness that was the Grapplemancer? Or the Herdsman build, which put an army of cows at your disposal? One such hilarious build was the Cluckromancer. Just take a level of Commoner, take the Dragon Mag flaw Chicken Infested, and create an army of chickens. You could specialize in necromancy and raise an army of zombie chickens, or level up in Monk and Drunken Master and slap people around with a pair of nunCLUCKS.
This sorcerous origin strives to recreate the hilarity of the Chicken Infested flaw in 5e for everyone to enjoy once again. I'm...sorry I got so carried away with chicken puns. I also apologize for the Legend of Zelda references. I couldn't help myself.

Cluckromancy

The source of your innate magic is a wild and fantastic story. You were given sorcerous powers by a powerful being, perhaps a whimsical or mad fey spirit, who was particularly obsessed with chickens. For some reason, now you can't stop thinking about chickens either. Every spell you cast reminds you of them. The boom of your fireballs sounds so much like a rooster's crow. Your mage armor emits soft clucking that only you can hear. And you keep finding chickens in your bag, when you're sure you didn't put any there.

Chicken Infested
Starting when you choose this origin at 1st level, whenever you reach into a container or pouch, you may choose to produce a live chicken from within, regardless of the container's size or the lack of a chicken in that container. You may draw a maximum number of chickens equal to your sorcerer level + your Charisma modifier. Your supply of chickens replenishes when you complete a long rest. Chickens drawn in this manner vanish after 8 hours or 10 minutes after they die. Drawn chickens behave in a manner appropriate for a panicked chicken suddenly brought into existence by magic.

Master of Cluck-Fu

Starting at 1st level, you may treat any chicken as a finesse weapon with the thrown property and a range of 20/60, channeling your magic through the chicken to increase its effectiveness. A chicken wielded by you as a weapon deals 1d8 bludgeoning damage and is magic. This damage increases to 1d10 at 6th level, 1d12 at 14th level, and 2d8 at 18th level. You are proficient with chickens as weapons.

Furious Pecking

Beginning at 6th level, whenever you take the Attack action with a chicken on your turn, you may spend 1 sorcery point to attack twice, instead of once. At 14 level, you gain the ability to attack three times for 2 sorcery points.

Find Fowlmiliar

At 14th level, you gain the ability to influence your avian allies. You learn the find familiar spell if you don't know it already. The spell doesn't count against your number of spells known. You may summon more than one familiar at a time; however, they must all be chickens. You may have a maximum number of chicken familiars equal to your Charisma modifier, which are all summoned with a single casting of find familiar. If you are in physical contact with one of your familiars, you may take advantage of its Glide ability, hanging from its legs in a very physics-defying manner. Your familiars also have the ability to attack on their turns, using your spell attack bonus for attack rolls and adding your Charisma modifier to damage rolls.

Apeckalypse from the Sky

At 18th level, you gain the ability to call forth feathery wrath on your enemies. As an action on your turn, you may summon a massive swarm of chickens from afar. These chickens peck and scratch all hostile creatures in a 30 foot radius centered on you for a number of rounds equal to your Charisma modifier. When the swarm of chickens appears, each creature in it that is hostile to you must make a Dexterity saving throw against your spell save DC. A creature takes 8d6 slashing damage and 8d6 piercing damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. A hostile creature must also make this saving throw when it enters the swarm’s area for the first time on a turn or ends its turn there. You must finish a long rest before you may use this feature again.

  1. ... You know, it's weird, but this is... actually a seriously viable class option XD I might, the capstone is a bit Did He Just Kill C'thlhu With Chickens, but other than that...

Thanks for the chuckle. This was hilarious.

    1. Yeah, the capstone was incredibly hard to make work. I balanced it against similar spells you get at that level.

  2. You sir have answered my prayers. I have been longing to play something utterly ridiculous in one of my games, and you have given me that pleasure!! My group might not let me touch this out of fear of my chicken related mayhem. Especially since I am prone to playing characters that can only be described as insane, kooky, and/or "not playing with a full deck"

    1. Excellent! Your group should rest assured that I worked hard to make this as balanced as possible while still good for shenanigans. Find Fowlmiliar might fuck with the action economy a bit but it's great for smaller parties and parties with fewer tanky characters.

  3. Just a note: no where does it say you can control the chickens, only summoning.

    2. Chickens are summoned in the same way as a familiar normally would be, but they can attack on their turns, unlike normal familiars.

    3. What I ment is that the chickens gained from "chicken infested" arent necessarily under your control

    4. Ah. No, they are not. You can produce them for a magic trick, to use as weapons, to confuse somebody, as bait for a creature, as guinea pigs for traps, and so on. But the "chicken infested" chickens behave like ordinary creatures in all other respects.

    5. Ooooo.... unless somehow got ahold of befrend animal or some spell to that effect. Maybe mind control. Then has chicken army.

    6. Exactly the kind of shenanigans I'd hoped people would come up with.

    1. Feel free to use and adapt any of our material. We only ask that if you put it up somewhere, you credit us.

  5. So, quick question: For cluck-fu, you think its possible to treat magic infused chickens as ranged touch attacks?

  8. In Hyrule there is one they fear the most, and even the Demon King himself cowers in fear. The Cluckromancer, controller of the Cuccos!

  9. Does using the chickens you summon as a weapon kill the chicken or does it stay around as normal?

  11. I made a custom race, and language that had to do with this. The race? Cluckin. Basically an anthro chicken. Language? Chicken speak. It's a series of "Bgaw"s. The way you speak it is by having A be consonants and W be vowels. I made it all for a character, simply called "The Cluckromancer". His backstory was that higher angels came and gave him cluckromancy as a joke. He is now the all powerful cluckromancer, and cons people by selling them live chickens pulled from bags, then has them dissapear after dying.

  12. I'm planning on making a dual class. It is going to be this class and Tech Knight. I can picture the boy from Fullmetal Alchemist throwing the chicken from Robot Chicken. I'm waiting for my DM to give me a go ahead.

  13. (One of my players is asking if they can use this in my campaign so the following is a serious examination as of the class) Find Fowlmiliar is super strong compared to other class abilities at that level. Also I would say that Cluck fu is basically fluff? It's almost strictly worse then casting a cantrip as a sorcerer. If you multiclassed then it becomes the best finesse weapon in the game. Also as a DM I would make the chickens significantly weaker since one of the reactions a chicken might have to being drawn into existence is PECKING the guy who is swinging it around like a nun-chuck. Which would be funny if the sorcerer died by being pecked to death at level 1. 10/10 sillyness. This has been a very amusing exercise.
